The Hijri date may differ by one day depending on the moon sighting and the official announcement in your country.
The Umm al-Qura calendar is the official civil Hijri calendar of Saudi Arabia, issued by Umm al-Qura University in Makkah and used by the state for civil affairs and timed worship such as the Ramadan fast and Hajj. It is the reference behind today’s Hijri date on this site. It is computed astronomically from the birth of the new crescent rather than religious sighting, so the start of a month may differ by one day in countries that rely on sighting — hence the adjustment switch above.
The table below lists the Gregorian start date and length of every month of 1448 AH according to the official Umm al-Qura calendar. For the origin and history of the calendar, see the article The Umm al-Qura Calendar.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Umm al-Qura calendar?
The Umm al-Qura calendar is a computed civil calendar issued by Umm al-Qura University in Makkah. It is the official reference for the Hijri calendar in Saudi Arabia for civil and timed-worship purposes, built on precise astronomical calculation of the new crescent rather than religious sighting.
Does the Umm al-Qura calendar match the Hijri date in every country?
Not necessarily; some countries rely on crescent sighting or other local tabulations, and their month may start one day before or after Umm al-Qura — which is why the site provides a one-day adjustment switch at the top of the page.
How do I convert a Umm al-Qura date to Gregorian and back?
Use the months table above for the Gregorian start of each month, or the date converter, which is based on the official Umm al-Qura table (1300–1500 AH) for instant two-way conversion.
